Zach Werenski’s season is officially over

This afternoon, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced that D Zach Werenski would be expected to miss the remainder of the regular season, after suffering a separated shoulder and torn labrum on Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 25 year old, who signed a 6-year extension with the Blue Jackets over a year ago, had gotten off to a pretty good start.

The defenceman put up 8 points in 13 games, all while providing solid defensive numbers.

Columbus, who signed star F Johnny Gaudreau this offseason, had some people excited about them heading into the 2022-2023 campaign.

Sadly, they’ve easily been the weakest team in a strong Metropolitan division, with just 4 wins in 13 games. Obviously, the season-ending injury of Zach Werenski will only hinder their hopes of pushing for a playoff spot this year.
