Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds has been having a great start to the season. Simmonds had just been promoted to the top six, has scored 5 goals in 12 games and is bringing a much needed physical presence to the Leafs.
Unfortunately it seems the Leafs will now be without Wayne Simmonds for a few weeks as he deals with a hand injury suffered after he took a puck to the hand during Saturdays games against the Vancouver Canucks.
Sheldon Keefe said Wayne Simmonds broke his wrist. Out six weeks.

The Leafs can’t seem to shake this injury bug, here is a list of players that have missed games due to injury thus far:
- Joe Thornton
- Nick Robertson
- Jack Campbell
- Auston Matthews
- Travis Dermott
- Wayne Simmonds
Wayne Simmonds being set to miss an extended period of time does potentially open the doors to the possibility of a Leafs trade, they lack forward depth and now more than ever they are going to need it.
Sam Bennett talks have been heating up around the league and you have to figure the stars may just be aligning to make that deal happen between the Flames and the Leafs.
Another name out there is Alex Iafallo, the Leafs and Kings have quite the history of trades recently which leads to you expect Kyle Dubas will atleast call the Kings front office about a potential move. Iafallo currently makes $2,425,000 against the cap which is a contract the Leafs could handle if the right pieces went he other way. Alex Iafallo is 27 years old and would make a great depth addition, he currently has 5 points in 10 games with the kings.
The only issue with going after Iafallo over Sam Bennett would be the 14 day quarantine, time the Leafs can not spare. Expect the Leafs to start making calls around the league here shortly.
