Nobody expected the Vegas Golden Knights to be buyers at the NHL trade deadline due to their current cap situation but they managed to make a deal work.
The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired Mattias Janmark from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Vegas’s 2nd round pick, Vegas will also swap their 3rd round pick for the blackhawks 5th round pick next year. The San Jose Sharks will receive 5th RD pick from Vegas for helping broker Janmark deal with Chicago. We will update with exact details once available.
Mattias Janmark is a 28 year old center, he currently has 19 points in 41 games playing for the Chicago Blackhawks. Janmark posesses a career best 34 points in 81 games with the Dallas Stars. He is currently signed to a one year deal that carries a $2,250,000 cap hit.
Janmark will slot into the Golden Knights middle six and is expected to regain the scoring touch he once had earlier in his career.
Janmark to Vegas. Vegas 2nd to Chicago. Flip VGK 3rd for Hawks 5th next year.

Mattias Janmark, reportedly heading to VGK, is a defence-first middle six winger who’s seen his underlying numbers crash but his shooting percentage spike this season. He was a scorer early in his career so maybe it’s a return to form? #VegasBorn pic.twitter.com/BgDyDNaAq7
