Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Their First Round Pick To 3-Year ELC

Thursday afternoon the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they have signed their 2020 first round pick Rodion Amirov to a three year entry level contract.

19 year old Rodion Amirov played in 39 games for Salavat Yulaev of the KHL in 2020-21, in those games he managed 13 points (nine goals, four assists)  putting him third among under 20 years old skaters in the KHL.

Amirov also played three games for Toros Neftekamsk of the VHL in which he recorded a goal and an assist and went on to register three assists in five playoff games for Tolpar Ufa of the MHL.

Rodion has 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in 60 career KHL games, five points (two goals, three assists) in eight career VHL games and 51 points (25 goals, 26 assists) in 60 career MHL games.

“Our Club is pleased to have Rodion formally signed today. We look forward to welcoming Rodion to Canada in the coming weeks and having him begin working with our player development staff in Toronto,” said Maple Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas. “We also look forward to continuing to work with Ufa with his development next season. Ufa has done an excellent job guiding Rodion’s development as a player to date and we are excited to work very closely with them through the summer and into the future.”

Amirov will stay behind in Russia to continue developing, the plan is for him to work in Toronto during the off-season this & next year with the Leafs.
