The Leafs have been looking to acquire a top nine forward for a bit now and we suspect they already have one lined up. So what’s the hold up?
It seems that the Toronto Maple Leafs are waiting till mid-march to make the deal.
From March 15th to the 26th Toronto only has two games on its schedule. It makes sense that they would be waiting for this optimal time period to execute a trade.
The Leafs waiting for a break in the schedule to make a deal indicates they have one lined up with a team outside of the North Division. A deal inside the North Division would not require a 14 day quarantine and so there would be no point in waiting for the break in their schedule to get the deal done.
It is very likely the trade will be with the Nashville Predators for forward Mikael Granlund.
Elliotte Friedman’s first intermission trade proposal for the Maple Leafs is for Toronto to bring in a player around March 11 just as the team begins a break in the schedule when they have just five games in 14 days #LeafsForever
