Travis Dermott had a pretty okay season on the leafs third pairing, but found himself the odd-man out once playoffs came around. This signing is telling, however, that the Leafs may plan on protecting Dermott from the expansion draft, leaving Justin Holl exposed to the Seattle Krakens.
It’s understandable, Dermott will make $500,000 less than Holl next season and is entering his prime years while Justin Holl will be turning 30 next year.
Travis Dermott, signed 2x$1.5M by TOR, has always had quite strong results despite never really gaining the trust of his coaches. His aggressiveness has consistently prevented scoring chances against even if it occasionally leads to a regrettable turnover. #LeafsForever pic.twitter.com/rfOatEdllB
