It’s been a busy NHL trade deadline for Kyle Dubas and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The team has already acquired Nick Foligno and Stefan Noesen in a three team deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets and the San Jose Sharks, they’ve also added some goaltender depth by getting goaltender David Rittich from the Calgary Flames.
However, it appears that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not done. It is being reported by Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston that the Leafs are still on the lookout for a depth defenseman. Here is what he had to say:
“I know the Leafs are not done. They still have at least one more move coming. I think it is likely to be a depth defenseman.”
The name floating around right now is 6’7, 255 lbs defenseman Jamie Oleksiak of the Dallas Stars. Jamie Oleksiak is an excellent defensive minded blueliner that provides a big body presence. He currently makes $2,137,500 against the cap, a hit the Leafs can easily manage.
