Bad news out of Ottawa, reports are coming out that Ottawa Senators forward Derek Stepan will miss the remainder of this NHL season with a shoulder injury that will require surgery.
#Sens say Derek Stepan will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a damaged labrum incurred in dislocating his left shoulder on Feb. 23 vs. #Habs. Stepan is a pending UFA and the team sas he is “expected to be fully recovered from surgery ahead of next season.”

Stepan has played in 20 games this season for the Senators and has 6 points in those games. He has been a great veteran presence in the room for the rookies and this injury will come as a significant blow.
Not long ago we reported that the Ottawa Senators and Derek Stepan were working on a deal that would send him closer to his family in the states. It is now safe to say that no deal is doing to be reached now and Stepan will walk into free agency as a UFA this coming off season and will have his pick of where he would like to go.
Speedy recovery Derek!
