Following their loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night goaltender Alexandar Georgiev and now former Rangers defenceman Tony DeAngelo got into an altercation.
According to Elliotte Freidman on the 31 thoughts podcast, DeAngelo uttered a sarcastic crack at Georgiev on their way off the ice following their overtime loss to the Penguins & Georgiev socked him.
The New York Post is reprting that it was actually rookie K’Andre Miller that broke the scuffle up.

It’s been said that Alexandar Georgiev and Tony Deangelo haven’t had a great relationship in recent years but things seemed to have boiled over after a miscommunication lead to the Penguins OT winner last night

It seems last night’s altercation was the last straw for the organization, leading to them placing Tony DeAngelo on waivers despite having just inked a new 2 year deal that carries an AAV of $4,800,00 with the club.
FEB 1st Update: Tony DeAngelo has now cleared waivers as of noon eastern time.
