Wow! This one came right out of left field!
It was announced Sunday night by TSN’s Bob McKenzie that the Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Jeff Carter From Los Angeles Kings pending the official trade call. The Los Angeles Kings will be retaining some of Jeff Carters $5,272,727 cap hit and will receive third and fourth round conditional draft picks from the Penguins.
The 36 year old former Stanley Cup winner had one hot start to the season but has since tailed off, he currently has 19 points in 40 games for the Kings. No doubt Carter will jump into the top six of the Penguins, potentially even playing next to Crosby who may be able to get Jeff going again.
It’s clear new Penguins GM Ron Hextall and President Brian Burke value experience and you will be hard pressed to find a guy more experienced than a multi-time stanley cup champion.
