In an unexpected move no one saw coming, Paul Maurice announced Friday morning that he will be resigning from his position as the head coach of the Winnipeg Jets.
Dave Lowry will assume the duties of interim head coach while the team figures out their next steps.
When asked about his decision he had the following to say:
this is a good team, I’m a good coach…but sometimes you can only push so far. Sometimes a team needs a new voice. They haven’t quit on me, but need a different voice. It’s the right time for it, and I know that.
This season was Paul Maurice’s 9th year as head coach of the winnipeg jets, in those 9 years the team has made it passed the first round twice.
