Pagnotta: Flames Will Look At Jack Eichel In The Off-Season
It’s been a disastrous season for the Calgary flames, they currently sit sixth in the North division ahead of only the Ottawa Senators. For a team with the core of Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, Sean Monahan etc. you would expect a much different picture than the team is painting right now.
The Flames have tried everything, including a carousel of coaches. Since the 2015-2016 season the Flames have had 5 different head coaches and nothing seems to work, at some point as a management group you need to questions your core of players; something flames GM Brad Treliving is currently evaluating.
David Pagnotta was on TSN690 Tuesday morning and said he is starting to believe that Johnny Gaudreau will not be a flame next season, not only that he goes on to say how the Flames were heavily in on Pierre-Luc Dubois and Josh Anderson this last off-season.
But what stood out most from his radio hit is that he believes the Calgary Flames are expected to go after Buffalo Sabres Jack Eichel in the off-season. Nothing says culture reset like offering up the package it would take to bring in one of the best centers in the game, whatever the price it will almost certainly be worth it for the Calgary Flames.
The Calgary Flames have long lacked a dominant center that can take control of games and Jack Eichel is just that. Keep the faith Flames fans, it may be bad now but you are in for a great off-season by the sounds of it.
Pagnotta really starting to believe Johnny Gaudreau won’t be a Flame next season. Flames were very interested in Dubois and Anderson last off-season. Says Flames will look at Eichel this off-season.
