It’s been exactly one week since the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Nick Foligno from the Columbus Blue Jackets and fans have understandably been anxiously awaiting his debut.
Now it looks like that wait is finally coming to an end. According to his interview with NHL.com’s Daren Millard via The Chirp Podcast the 33 year old forward will make his Toronto Maple Leafs debut Thursday night as they take on the Winnipeg Jets.
When asked about facing off against his old teammate Pierre Luc-Dubois Foligno had this to say:
We’ll face off against each other for the first time, so the familiar face across the way. It will be nice to probably have a practice but I rather … let’s go. I’m here to play for them and get this thing going, so I probably prefer to jump right into the door.
It is being said that Foligno will slot into the first line next to Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner at least to start but if it’s not a good fit they will move him around the lineup to see where he meshes the best.
With the potential injury to Zach Hyman, Foligno’s arrival couldn’t come at a better time.
