New York Rangers Hire Gerard Gallant As New Head Coach

Rangers hire Gerard Gallant

We broke the news last month that the New York Rangers were going to hire Gallant as their new head coach and it appears the Rangers wasted no time getting a deal done after letting go of their former head coach David Quinn just last month.

It was announced Monday evening that the club has reached an agreement to hire former Vegas Golden knights head coach Gerard Gallant as the 36th head coach in franchise history.

This coaching hire is another move to help the Rangers young core take the next step to becoming a playoff team after a disappointing season in which they finished outside the playoff picture for the third time in four years.

Gerard Gallant previously spent 3 seasons as the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights taking them to the stanley cup finals in the franchises first season. More recently he was coaching team Canada over in Latvia during the IIHF world championship, a tournament his team would go on to win in impressive fashion after losing their first 3 games.
