In a surprising move Saturday afternoon, the Nashville Predators traded defenceman Ryan Ellis to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Philippe Myers and Nolan Patrick, the Nashville Predators then flipped Nolan Patrick to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Cody Glass.

It’s a shock to most as the Flyers seemed to be in on Seth Jones and the predators gave no indication of moving their stand-out defenceman Ryan Ellis.

Nashville is getting a solid second pairing defenceman in Philippe Myers, in 44 games with the Flyers last season he put up 11 points. Myers is signed for 2 more years with a $2,550,000 cap hit.

Nashville is also getting a solid prospect with potential in cody glass. Glass is in the final year of his ELC that carries a $863,333 cap hit. In 66 career NHL games, he has 22 points.

Vegas is getting the rights to RFA Nolan patrick who put up back to back 30 point seasons in his first two years in the league and was plagued by injuries last season which contributed to his subpar play.

Last but not least, the Philadelphia Flyers who are the big winners here are getting a bonified top 4 defensemen that can get in done at both ends of the ice. In just 35 games last season with Nashville he put up 18 points, prior to that season he had 38 points in 49 games.
