Minnesota Wild Expected To Add Ahead of NHL Trade Deadline
It’s been an amazing season for the Minnesota Wild and their fans. The team came in with tempered expectations but have since blown all of those out of the park. In large part due to the stellar play of Kirill Kaprizov the Wild find themselves sitting third in their division with a stellar 23-11-2 record.
Sportsnets’ Chris Johnston believes that Minnesota Wild GM will look to build upon what the team has become this season ahead of the deadline. Here’s what he had to say:
“I think they build on it, you know when your team exceeds expectations to the degree that they have I think it’s…I’m not predicting they take a big swing but I can see them just adding something probably upfront to get some excitement going and to give their team a little of a better chance”
Bill Guerin and the Minnesota Wild are quite tight to the cap so any move they make will likely include a roster player going the otherway. One name who may be on his way out of Minnesota is Nick Bjugstad who currently has a $4,100,000 cap hit and is set to become a UFA next season.
Bjugstad would provide the cap relief to go after guys like Kyle Palmieri or Taylor Hall (provided Buffalo Retains some of that contract). The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching and things are certainly heating up for a Minnesota Wild team that has surprised everyone, perhaps even themselves as they look to make a push for the Stanley Cup.
