The Calgary Flames had a terrible season this year finishing fifth in the North division. They haven’t made it out of the first round since the 2015 season and have gone through more coaches than you could count.
All this it seems is starting to take its toll on Calgary Flames star forward Matthew Tkachuk. Sportsnet analyst Shane O’Brien made an appearance on the Steve Kouleas’s powerplay podcast where he stated that he believes the 23 year old wants out of Calgary.

Tkachuk is entering the final year of his 3 year bridge deal worth $7,000,000 that he signed back in 2019, perhaps the bridge deal was him seeing which direction the team was heading before making a long term commitment, a commitment he no longer has an interest in making.
It’s unclear if Flames GM Brad Treliving has any interest in trading him and Tkachuk is set to become an RFA following this upcoming season. This could get messy.
