Leafs Acquire Alex Galchenyuk from Carolina

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Alex Galchenyuk from Carolina in exchange for Egor Korshkov and David Warsofsky.

It’s been a wild few days for Alex Galchenyuk, now officially on to his 7th team in four years. Galchenyuk has 185 career points in 557 career NHL games.

First going the way of the Carolina Hurricanes is Egor Korshkov, a russian prospect that has 1 goal in his only NHL game. He is currently playing in the KHL with 31 points in just 53 games.

The other piece going to the Hurricanes is David Warsofsky who is a 30 year old AHL journeyman, he will likely report to the Hurricanes farm team.

It was reported the other day that the Leafs were looking to add a winger and this deal makes the most sense as Galchenyuk will not have to quarantine for 14 days before joining the team. Galchenyuk is likely to slot into the Leafs bottom six.
