John Klingberg chose Anaheim over Montreal last summer

Before signing a bridge deal with the Ducks, D John Klingberg had multiple offers on the table, one of which being from the Montreal Canadiens, according to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun. The defenceman, who signed a one-year/$7M pact with Anaheim in the offseason was originally seeking a multiple-year contract but eventually had to settle with a short-term deal.

Through 15 games, the Anaheim Ducks sit last in the Pacific division, only accumulating 4 wins. Klingberg has yet to score a goal and has tallied up 7 points.

In hindsight, while their defensive core is abysmal, the Canadiens likely dodged a bullet by missing out on the Swede, as his offensive and defensive play have been very poor.
