Last year, hometown boy Wayne Simmonds opted to sign a 1-year deal worth $1,500,000 with the Toronto Maple Leafs to be closer to home. In 38 games with the club this season he put together 7 goals, 9 points and 45 penalty minutes.
Wayne was heating up in the middle of the season before he was injured, an injury that noticeably set him back as he was unable to get back to his previous form.
Well good news for Wayne and good news for Leafs fans, it is looking like he will get another shot with the Leafs next year. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Wayne Simmonds are working on an extension and it’s looking positive.
31 Thoughts will be coming soon, but one bit of news. Nothing finalized, but word is TOR is working on an extension with Wayne Simmonds. Sounds positive.
