Insider: St Louis Blues in Talks With Buffalo Sabres For Trade
The St Louis Blues have struggled as of late going 2-5-3 in their last 10 games, large in part due to their struggles offensively.
Blues GM Doug Armstrong isn’t going to wait around, he has reportedly been one of the more active GMs ahead of the trade deadline making calls to just about every team.
One team he has been in frequent conversation with and is looking like they may get something done is the the Buffalo Sabres. Here is what Sportsnet’s Elliote Friedman had to say in his 31 thoughts article:
Adams (Sabres GM) was believed to be discussing something with struggling St. Louis. I wondered if it would be Taylor Hall, but received pushback on that idea, so we’ll see where it goes. There are a ton of teams calling to see what he’s willing to do, and what it will take…
…One thing about Blues GM, Doug Armstrong — he is utterly fearless and could do anything. Chatter around the Blues is increasing. He is someone who got first-rounders for rentals (Kevin Shattenkirk in 2017 and Paul Stastny in 2018) without harming the long-term future of his team.
If not Taylor Hall the likely candidate would be Sam Reinhart, Reinhart is an offensively gifted forward that would give the Blues an immediate offensive jump start. In just 31 games with the struggling Sabres Reinhart has managed to put up 21 points, last season he recorded 50 points in 69 games.
The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching and Doug Armstrong is expected to make a few moves before then, keep your eyes peeled blues fans.
