Who would have seen this coming? After spending six seasons with the Buffalo Sabres without a playoff game to show for it, you would think it would be Jack Eichel wanting to move on and be traded (which he likely does) while the team desperately tried to hang on to him.
Not so, it seems Sabres management has had enough of the circus and are looking for a completely fresh start and to take the team in a new direction, one that does not include former 2nd overall pick Jack Eichel.
During a radio hit this afternoon on WGR 550, insider Elliotte Friedman said the following:
“At the end of the day, I don’t think the Sabres want to bring back Jack Eichel. They want to move on.”
It appears Jack Eichel has indeed played his last game for the Buffalo Sabres and the team will do it’s best to bring in a suitable return for the 24 year old elite center.
One thing is for sure, it’s going to be a very interesting off-season around the league as teams scramble to put together packages large enough to land a player of Eichel’s caliber.
