Tuesday night the Carolina Hurricanes were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning as they took the series 4-1. Not the result many caniacs were hoping for and certainly not the results the team was hoping for either.
Now that the season is done, 27 year old Carolina Hurricanes star defenseman Dougie Hamilton is officially an unrestricted free agent and it is looking like he will opt to test the UFA market.
We reported months ago that contract talks between Hamilton and the Hurricanes have stalled with the Hurricanes not budging from their number of around $6,000,000 while Dougie and his camp are looking for something in the $7,000,000 – $8,000,000 range. Not much has changed since then, the two have not re-engaged contract discussions and once free agency opens up Dougie Hamilton will be fielding calls from teams around the league.
It’s quite possible that tuesday nights 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning was Dougie Hamilton’s last game as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes.
