This season has not gone well for the Flyers, fans and management alike had big expectations this season after their wondeful season last year. However, sometimes things just don’t work out like you want them to.
Philly currently sits fifth in the MassMutual East division and are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games, Carter hart has had a hard time finding his game after two great seasons with the Flyers and the team clearly is not gelling right now.
Insider Elliotte Friedman on his 31 thoughts podcast said he believes that the Flyers will undergo major changes during this off-season.
“I think this is the right time to have kind of a patient guy there. I do think Philly will make, maybe not now but maybe it’s at the draft or the summer I think Philly is going to make one maybe two major changes… I think at times Philly has been asked about guys like Patrick, like Konecny, like when he got benched they got calls about Konecny…
…But the most interesting thing to me about the Flyers is, who are they going to decide are their core guys? If you were going to tell me that they would look at their veteran core and say it’s time for a change, I don’t think anybody is going to have a problem with that.”
He also said the Flyers have no plans on protecting Jakub Voracek in the NHL expansion draft and that they will protect players like Giroux and Kevin Hayes. you have to think the Krakens will snatch up a player like Voracek in a heart beat.
All that being said, Elliotte thinks the Flyers will stay patient and not make any rash decisions during the season.
It’s going to be a fun off-season!
