It’s been a quiet trade deadline for the Edmonton Oilers who have said they don’t want to risk the future to improve now, but they did manage to pull off a deal with the New Jersey Devils to improve their blueline.
Announced Monday afternoon the Edmonton Oilers have acquired Dmitri Kulikov from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional 4th round pick in 2022. The pick upgrades to a 3rd round pick in 2022 if the Oilers win a playoff round.
The 30 year old defenseman is good at 5v5 and when he is on the ice it has been pretty low event, he has 2 points in 38 games.
Dmitry Kulikov has been a very good defenceman at even strength this year. Low-event in prior years, but he’s been very, very good at both ends of the rink in 20-21. Also good at zone exits.
His possession numbers against tough competition are top 20 in the league. Good trade. pic.twitter.com/8U6BCgEpcr
