Dubas: Leafs Willing To Move Top Prospect To Improve Team This Season
Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas met with the media today to discuss the state of his team and dropped a few bits that you will find interesting.
We’ve been reporting that Kyle Dubas and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking to improve their forward group this season. In his own words, Leafs GM Kyle Dubas says they had to move some offensive pieces out to improve on the back end and now that their back end is more stable it’s time to look at improving their forward group.
“We had to move out some forwards that were good for us in order to add on the back end and thus we feel like that’s an area where we may want to look at a bit more.”
When asked if the Leafs are willing to move a top prospect to improve the team this year, Dubas had a very simple answers; “Yes”
Would Kyle Dubas consider trading a top prospect to improve #Leafs this season?

Dubas was also asked about what kind of deal he is looking for and said a rental player probably makes the most sense given the flat cap moving forward but didn’t close the door on a hockey deal if it made sense.
If that is the case, a rental likely wouldn’t cost a top prospect and the only way they would move one is to get a player like Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators who still has term left on his contract in return.
It’s expected the Leafs will be busy ahead of the deadline, keep your eyes peeled.
