Doug Armstrong Named GM For Hockey Canada

Today it has been announced that St. Louis Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong will serve as Team Canadas GM for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Armstrong is now in his 11th season as GM of the Blues who won the ultimate prize just 2 seasons ago. He was also named GM of the year for the 2011-2012 season in which the Blues finished 49-22-11.

It’s a fitting promotion for Armstrong who has served as a member of management for hockey canada in both the 2010 & 2014 Olympic Games helping the Country bring home 2 gold medals.

Doug Armstrong has a strong international hockey resume:

  • 2016 World Cup of Hockey Team Canada GM
  • Gold Medals at the IIHF World Championships in 2007 & 2016 (Special assistant/Senior Advisor)
  • Silver Medals at the IIHF World Championships in 2008 & 2009 (As GM)
  • Olympic Gold Medals in 2010 & 2014 as a member of management for Hockey Canada.

It’s an exciting time for not only Team Canada fans but all fans of the Olympic tournament, NHL players will partake in the upcoming 2022 Olympic Games which will undoubtedly draw vastly more interest.

The new Hockey Canada GM will be joined by Kevin Holland who will serve as Associate General Manager as well as Assistant General Managers; Ron Francis, Roberto Luongo, Don Sweeney.
