Colorado Avalanche In Trade Talks With Sabres For Jonas Johansson
The Colorado Avalanche have been searching for answers to their backup goaltending issue. Pavel Francouz hasn’t been able to play a game this season as he is on LTIR with a lower body injury and will not be available any time soon.
Colorado has given Hunter Miska a chance to hold on to the job but he has just not been good this year. In Miska’s four starts this season he is 1-1-2 with a .865 save percentage and a 3.5 goals against average, with numbers like that you are going to have a hard time winning games.
This is causing the Avalanche to take a look around the league at potential goalies to bring in to help take some of the load off of Philipp Grubauer. There are reports out now that the Colorado Avalanche and the Buffalo Sabres are currently in negotiation stages of a potential deal that would send goaltender Jonas Johansson to the Avalanche.
Jonas Johansson is the Buffalo Sabres third string goalie, he doesn’t have great numbers this season posting a .883 save percentage and a 3.91 GAA but he does play behind the Buffalo Sabres so you can take those numbers with a grain of salt. Johansson is a talented goalie that would likely thrive behind the Avalanche’s stellar defensive core.
Friedman in his 31 Thoughts article writes that he believes the Avalanche were looking at Sabres goalie Jonas Johansson, they’d like to add depth to their goaltending position. #GoAvsGo

March 19th update: It appears the deal is now done, particulars have not yet been released.
Jonas Johansson is likely going to Colorado, according to @KevinWeekes.
I can say without hesitation that the Avs are getting the worst goalie I’ve seen during my 19 seasons covering the Sabres.
He doesn’t stop pucks in practice or games. https://t.co/lFC8cy6Epl
