The Columbus Blue Jackets are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games and have recently dropped two very important divisional games to the Nashville Predators who sit right behind them in the standings.
Things aren’t looking too hot for the club that looked so different in the playoffs last year and some think a change is imminent.
Here is what Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman had to say on his 31 thoughts podcast about the topic:
“It’s hard not to see something coming. They already made two trades, you know they trade Domi for Anderson and they trade Dubois…
…I’ve asked a lot of GM’s, I said when do you know when to fire a coach? and a lot of them say Like your team doesn’t push back, right? I don’t know whats going to happen there.
Kekalainen has always stood fast Tortorella and I’m not saying that I know he’s thinking about it because I don’t know that, but I’m looking at this situation and the push back isn’t there and that’s where you wonder if they are thinking about it.”
You have to think if the Blue Jackets drop their upcoming game against the Detroit Red Wings that change is likely to follow in swift fashion. Change will likely start with a new voice in the room, which means the end of Tortorella’s run as the Blue Jackets head coach.
Keep your eyes peeled on the outcome of the Blue Jackets next game which has a “must win” feel to it.
