Carolina Hurricanes Have Shopping List For NHL Trade Deadline
The NHL trade deadline is quickly approaching and teams around the league are making calls to get moves done before it.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on his 31 thoughts podcast Friday morning the Carolina Hurricanes are one of those teams.
Carolina is reportedly looking to add a defensive minded defenseman to their blueline, as well as a goalie and a depth forward. It’s not likely all three get done, but it’s what they are currently looking at.
Here’s what Friedman had to say:
“I think Carolina is looking at some things, maybe a defenseman. They have a lot of offensively minded defenseman, talented ones I think they might be looking for someone who thinks defense first as opposed to offense.
I think they might be looking at a depth forward, I think they might be looking at another goalie, they are obviously not going to do all of them but I think they are a buyer.”
The defensive minded defenseman the Hurricanes may be looking at could be Mattias Ekholm, a solid top four pairing defenseman that has a strong defensive game that would mesh nicely with the Hurricanes existing offensive blueliners.
Ekholm comes with a sweet $3,750,000 cap hit for two more seasons and as we reported the Nashville Predators will be sellers at the deadline.
This years NHL trade deadline is April 12th, canes fans should mark the date as your team looks like they could be busy!
