Calgary Flames Fire Head Coach – Hire Darryl Sutter

Things are starting to change in Calgary.

The Club announced Thursday night that they have relieved head coach Geoff Ward of his duties and have hired Darryl Sutter to be new head coach of the Calgary Flames on a three-year contract.

This will be Sutter’s second go as head coach of the Calgary Flames.

Something needed to change and before making major roster changes the Flames felt that a new voice and an experienced NHL coach would be the best option for now.

Darryl Sutter previously spent 6 seasons as the Head Coach of the LA Kings winning two Stanley Cups. He was let go in 2017.

Sutter will only have one full day to get to know his new team and get them ready for their game against the Edmonton Oilers Saturday night.
