In a shocking turn of events, it appears talks between the Minnesota Wild and their star calder trophy finalist Kirill Kaprizov have gone cold.
Kaprizov is reported to be back home in Moscow and it appears that CSKA is interested in signing him for the KHL and the Olympics, meaning the Minnesota Wild could be losing their star player.
It’s unlikely the Wild would be able to match the type of money CSKA will be offering the 24 year old winger and it’s unclear if this is simply posturing by the player to get more out of Wild GM Bill Guerin but regardless it is now a very messy and complicated situation.
Kaprizov had an outstanding year for the Wild putting up 51 points in 55 games and brought a new level of excitement that had been missing from prior Minnesota Wild teams. This would be a massive blow.
As of now talks with likely Rookie of the yr Kaprizov & @mnwild have gone cold. My understanding is he’s in Moscow and it’s believed CSKA is interested in signing him for KHL & Olympics. @NHL @NHLNetwork #HockeyTwitter
