Blackhawks coach tells players to draw up their own play

File this under things you don’t see every day, or ever, in the NHL.

Down three goals in the third period with 7 minutes left in the game against the Detroit Red Wings sunday night, Chicago Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton called a timeout.

What proceeded next was perhaps one of the most bizarre things you’ll ever see. He hands the clipboard to his players for them to draw up a play.

Fast-forward 7 minutes, it didn’t work, the Blackhawks lost the game 6-3 and now hold the record for longest start to a season without holding a lead.

Is Jeremy Colliton handing his players the drawing board a sign of defeat, or an attempt to get players to take charge?

Let us know what you think.
