Arizona Coyotes Looking To Move Veteran Defenseman
It appears the Arizona Coyotes and veteran blueliner Alex Goligoski will be going separate ways before the trade deadline. Goligoski is a UFA at the end of this season and it appears that the Coyotes do not have an interest in re-signing him.
Goligoski is a veteran defenseman that many teams who consider themselves contenders will be looking at come trade deadline time. In 889 career games he has 408 points, which is very impressive for a blueliner.
Here is what TSN’s Frank Seravalli had to say:
Although the Coyotes have hung in there tough to this point there has been no negotiations on a contract extension, he’s an interesting guy because of the minutes he logs but also because of the fact that he is a left shooting defenseman but likes and is comfortable playing on the right side. He could a name added to the mix the next time we do the trade bait board.
Alex Goligoski is in the final year of his deal that carries a $5,475,000 cap hit, depending on the team they deal with the Coyotes may have to retain some of that salary.
One team that has expressed interest already and are desperately trying to bolster their blueline is the Boston Bruins. This will be something to keep your eyes on.
